DIY Homemade Halloween Face Paint from Parenting Squad here. Found this at a big site that accidentally left the original copy from this site below it without linking back - oops.Photo: left-hand / Flickr I have never tried homemade face paint like this so don’t know how well it really works. There are also links to face painting tutorials and tips for applying makeup at the link. They have “recipes” for the following:
- White Skin for a Dead Look: Cover your child’s face with cold cream. Then carefully add baby powder or cornstarch to her face, making certain she doesn’t breathe any of it in. You can use a buff puff or cotton.
- Face Paint
- Clown Makeup Base
- Fake Blood: Chocolate Syrup and Red food coloring
- Homemade Pixie Glitter: Plain Aloe Vera Gel and Glitter (the more fine kind): Mix in 1/2 teaspoon for every 2 tablespoons of gel. Put on desired areas, avoiding the eyes. Store in an airtight container or it will dry out.
- Grey Hair: Hair Gel and cornstarch.
DIY Pretend Makeup Using Nail Polish. I never tried to get into my mom’s makeup, but I know lots of little kids who did/do. This is an easy and cheap DIY (think Dollar Store nail polish if you don’t have any). Tutorial from artsy fartsy mama here.
This blog is for my crafting alter ego. I did lots of crafts with my very artistic mother growing up and continue doing them with kids now. I love really good kids' crafts that hold their attention and mine. When you have that combination you have a great project!
